Terri, this problem is usually a function of the tape recorder. You might
get some improvement if you clean the heads of both the playback and record
heads of the machine. A cotton swab with denatured alcohol is best for this
unless you have special head cleaner stuff. Also, if you should have a

Hi, Terri, wonder if the head alinement is different between your nls
machine, and your standard tape player? head alinement is very
critical, especially when you're dealing with the outer tracks, and a
classic example of cross talk was the original 4 track pros that irti

Terri,
You can buy a demagnetizer from a store such as Radio Shack. You need to
be sure that you know where the tape heads on your machine are located.
Some demagnetizers have a rubber-tipped object that is run lightly over
the tape head with a horizontal motion. The rubber tip is essential

Head alignment has nothing to do with speed. Won't help. Sorry.

the head alignment deals with the azimuth and clarity of the over all sound of the
tape. if you don't have a good alignment tape I wouldn't attempt trying to align tape
heads.

How do I demagnetize my tape heads? And what do I need in order to do that?
Also, what's good to use, when cleaning a tape deck?
Thank you,

Terri,
If you haven't done so, you might want to clean and demagnetize the heads
on the tape deck. Be sure to put the tape across the room when you do
the demagnetizing.

Hi Gary and others,
Well, I'm not sure how to really explain what it sounds like. It sounds ok
I guess. It's sort of hard to tell what it's supposed to sound like, sense
one track is playing in each channel.

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to copy an NLS book. I'm recording it, using my tape deck. You
know, with the library tape in one side, and a blank tape in the other.
Well, I've recorded one tape so far, and I've noticed something that I
really don't like, but I don't know if there's anything I can do
