I've had a few MP3 players that didn't have the voice feature and it was a

The sansa c250, 2 gigs of memory but with expansion, was about 60 bucks.
Rockbox works splendidly on the ipod video, and a note, if your getting
rockbox right away, don't bother getting warranty. This is just a waiste of
money, as its voided when you instal rockbox.

Yes, the battery level is spoken by Rockbox. I can go to the Info Menu on
my iRiver H120 and hear both the percentage of charge and the free disk
space. None of the so-called plug-ins, games, etc. are supported by
Rockbox.
