Since I don't do this often I have forgotten how to get rid of those

Thanks Dane, This is one of those things when I see "mute the
microphones output." I think of muting the output of the microphone to

The automatic level control is under the options menu. Make sure you're
recording in software, not soundboard mode in recording source and
parameters, also in the options menu. And, if you're using Windows 7, there
are settings that can make recordings sound very bad, but I can't remember

that after just a little fiddling it has worked. I wish I could give you
specific guaranteed directions but that flash area can throw one off a bit.

Just for emergencies it may be a good idea to download NVDA and have it
around for that purpose. The NVDA screenreader is free. You can get it at
http://www.nvaccess.org. Even if you use another screenreader as a primary
NVDA can coexist on your machine with no problem.
