sure KVM under Linux supports both.
Correct, KVM on illumos only supports Intel VT-x (no AMD-v)
Linux KVM runs on both VT-x and AMD-v - they've had more time to develop
the code.

While it's true that Oracle discontinued xVM, this was done so as to
port their Oracle VM solution to Solaris. The new solution is also Xen
