I keep trying to unsubscribe an old email address which gets redirected to
me but it never succeeds as it needs the list owner's approval which never
seems to be granted.
How do I get this old subscriber address dropped?
I'm currently getting two copies of every msg to the list and have been

I'm trying to discover why mutt seems to take so much longer to send an
email after I moved my mail server to a different machine, but I can't
work out how mutt interacts with sendmail...
Looking through the mutt executable, I can't see any references to
sendmail. My .muttrc does not contain

Can someone describe the mbox and Maildir formats for me?
Is mbox the same as Unix format?

I have just subscribed using a new email address but can't get the old
address unsubscribed, which is still forwarded to me, so I get two copies
of each msg.
I've tried changing the 'From:' line in mutt to the old subscription
address but the mailing list manager won't accept it.
What can I d

Where do users normally install the html version of mutt's manual?
I have set F1 to display the manual in Lynx. I'm just not sure where it
should go. It's in TMP at the moment.

How do I set the order of my mailbox to 'reverse mailbox order'?
This is the order which it starts up in, but if I change it to
something else, than I don't see any option for changing it
back.

How do I resend a msg from my outbox?
Sometimes msgs get lost and I'd like to send a duplicate.
Is there a simple way of doing this?

Is there an option to reverse a sort order?

Elm can do this so I'd expect that mutt would have the same
capability, but this is the prompt I get:-

I would like to change the colours of headers so that part of the line

Is this possible?
If so can I also do something like display certain X-Mailer lines

How do I set up F1 for help?
Actually I want to look at the html manual, although I've manged to
get Ctl-Z to do this with:-

This is my first stab at a macro, but it's quite useful, and quite
close to what I want eventually. In addition, I w
Where does mutt get information to format the From: line?
Is it the environment or .muttrc?
I'd like to change it so that it puts jpolt@ instead of john@
in that line, but I don't know how.

Is there any way to get mutt to re-read .muttrc without exiting?
I like to experiment with various options and don't want to have to
close the application after updating the rc.
Maybe there is even an option within mutt for editing the rc,
but I haven't found it yet...

Does anyone include the 'Full Name:' header in their .muttrc?
It seems as though I'm putting:-
From: "IBM OS/2 SENDMAIL VERSION 2.03"
in my headers because the $x macro is not getting resolved by sendmail.
Reading through my copy of the sendmail book, it would appear that the

In my long-running struggle to convert from elm to mutt, I think I
have found why elm can send mail and why mutt can't. It seems to be
related to utility included with elm called sndmail which acts like a
preprocessor for sendmail and formats the command line correctly in a
routine called mailmsg2
Can someone tell me where sendmail picks up the SENDER name when using
mutt? ie how does sendmail resolve the $x macro?
