Having read all the OpenBSD specific books I could get my hands on
I intend to dig a bit deeper now.
After checking the list on http://www.openbsd.org/books.html I
intended to buy
The Design and Implementation of the 4.4 BSD Operating System
by McKusick et al.
(ISBN 0-2015-4979-4) from 1996
but
After some hints I searched the archives again and found the

I use OpenBSD 3.8 on a Fujitsu Siemens (FSC) AMILO Pro V2055 Notebook.
Problem occurred right after installing from the CD set.
After starting X the virtual consoles are no longer accessible.
Some "trying to switch screens" happens but then the X screen is
back and then the mouse cursor hangs.

You might be willing to look at
man vnconfig
for hints regarding encrypted partitions.
I do not agree with "nobody will steal your file server".
But surely I am that sort of admin who prefers password
protection for single user shells at the console of servers
in locked rooms.
