You might be willing to look at man vnconfig
for hints regarding encrypted partitions. I do not agree with "nobody will steal your file server". But surely I am that sort of admin who prefers password protection for single user shells at the console of servers in locked rooms. Just being paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you. ;-) And in a world without 100% security it is all about not making an attackers life easier than necessary ...
