It seems the 'r' flag isn't mentioned on the man page. I glanced at the code and it seems to do something very similar to 'R'. I also noticed that you cannot use both flags together. In FreeBSD and NetBSD this code exists too and again it isn't mentioned on the man page. Any special reason for it

Not all mpi support RAID and not all mpi CAN support RAID. The ones that do have a FLASH part (can be BIOS) but they require a firmware that supports it. Either it has the extension of IR (Integrated RAID) on the version number or in CTRL-C you have RAID properties which means you can create RAID
