We also use the 4 mg tablets. We have an Order Set with all of the admin
times. By combining some of the repeated doses/times, I was able to trim
it down to (only) 7 orders. We have the Start Time hard-coded to the first
dose of the first day. That works fine if the prescriber orders the Dose

There's always MOX. Just send yourself reminder notes with "Special
Handling" to be mailed on future dates. Actually, I think Jeff's
suggestion is best. In your original post you mentioned 14 separate daily
orders, presumably Q ?28/30? Days. I don't think that would work, since

Even in Quick Batch, the confirmation message is "2 eligible Rx's
selected. Discontinue?". Of course, the default response is Yes, so they
can through it without noticing that there are multiple linked
Rxs. But to answer your question... No, we've never used a Rule for this
situation.

We have the PHA Drug Dx built the same way and use the Zero dose in
Pharmacy. In QuickScripts, we have the Zero dose with default Dose
Instruction as "Apply to". As far as I know, in POM, the Edit Dose box
comes up anytime the default dose is Zero, regardless if you have a free

In previous versions of Meditech, the Link feature seemed to serve no
purpose other than informational for the Pharmacists. It didn't do
anything on the paper MAR, and it didn't do anything on the Dispensing
Machine. So, in addition to meds ordered together, we used it to Link
range orders, suc
Are you trying to export a formulary
list from the Drug Dictionary, or do you want to set up an external database
to MANAGE the Drug Dictionary? If you just want to export a medication
list (not all the data in the Drug Dictionary) so people can see what's
on the formulary, it's a relatively simpl
I know this isn't what you asked and may not apply, but... If you have an
automated dispensing system (Pyxis, Omnicell, etc) with Profile, you can
probably run that report from there. We have Pyxis Profile in all
Inpatient areas, so we use the Pyxis "All Orders by Med" report, rather

In general, we treat all HOLD orders as a DC. The only exception would be
if the prescriber wrote to hold one specific dose, for example, before a
particular test. We have been using this policy for several years, and the
benefit of preventing unwanted doses far outweigh the inconvenience of

All of our inpatient areas are on full Pyxis Profile, with no carts except
PBs and IVFs. We have some Physicians using POM, in which case the orders
must be Verified by a Pharmacist before they pass to the Pyxis. The
majority of our orders are still written in the chart, faxed to the

The original post used the term "vial", and the replies added the term
"multidose", but I'm thinking that the original question was about a
prescription vial (bottle) with a bunch of tablets/capsules, and not about
a multidose vial of some injectable narcotic. This situation almost never

We also have the BAR charge editable set to Y, so that we can control the
charge in PHA based on cost. The charge is sent to BAR with each
transaction. To see what the charge is "supposed to be", there are two
Meditech routines which may help:

We also have all orders entered by Pharmacists (or by Physicians via POM).
When we went through our original Meditech PHA implementation in 1996, we
investigated the possibility of using the Tech verification process, and,
as Charlie says, we found it to be the equivalent of entering orders

You can make the barcode TALLER (but not wider) by simply creating a
second computed field for it and placing them directly on top of each

Sorry, I don't have a solution, but, yes, we experienced the same thing
with our dot matrix printer. If we were printing a single label, the M
would print first. If we were printing multiple labels, the M would print
only on the first label. This issue persisted for years, and neither

I would also add that you have to be
diligent with regard to bulk packages. In some cases, the NDC number of
the outer package is different from the NDC number of the individual dose.
For example, Ceftriaxone for Injection
