Hi all,
I've gotten rid of all possible trackpad gestures that may interfere with any
of the voice over speech attributes (rate, pitch, etc) but I'm still having to
restart voice over after a little while on my system, at which point the local
language english voice announces randomly before it
Oh, that's what I had had many problems with before I figured it out.

Hi there,
I have recently had a similar issue—I have had to restart Voiceover every 5 -
10 minutes as it stops announcing whatever I navigate to.
I had a session with their accessibility team and have submitted data from my
computer which, as they tell me, has been very helpful in identifying t

Dear List,
I am having a weird problem with VoiceOver on Big Sur.
While reading on web pages and in email, by pressing the down arrow to read
line by line, I will hear
"Notes, 12 of 20.”
Then as I continue to press the down arrow, it will read the email for a few
lines, then I may hear,
“Music, 1
I’m thinking this could be due to one of 2 things.
1. Your dock is not set to auto-hide.
or,
2. Your dock may or may not be set to auto-hide, but your mouse arrow is
situated at the bottom of the screen, and is hovering over the dock area.
Many non-sighted VoiceOver users are not aware that ev
How do I pair something to my Mac using bluetooth?

Go to your Bluetooth settings in system settings, make sure it is turned on,
then turn on the device you want pairing, I believe you then add the device,
after the Mac searches and finds it, select the device and OK it.
Hope this gets you started in the right direction.

Hi Lori, go to System Preferences, go to sound, interact with the table, and if
you have any Bluetooth devices nearby, you will interact with the device to
select the device. If it is one that you haven't cared before, go to System

Hello,
Does anyone know of a VO friendly IOS App which will capture audio played by
Safari, somewhat like Audio Hijack on Mac/OS?
Many thanks for any tips … Paul Hopewell

Auto hide the doc was not checked.
I checked it. I hope this fix the problem.

OK, hope that helps.
Keep in mind, that even with Auto-Hide enabled, if the mouse pointer is
hovering near the bottom of the screen, this will cause the dock to appear, and
VoiceOver may speak or highlight a dock item. Same can be true for the menu
bar, and/or any of the pull-down menus.

Do VO M twice which will bring up Menu Extras. From there you will find
Bluetooth and VO Space to select it.

Thank you all for your replies and comments. It would have probably been better
if I learned the way Voiceover does it in the first place. It’s hard to undo
over 29 years of another behavior though. I’ll give this setting a try and see
if it is reliable.

Hello Paul,
I can assure you that Super Duper works just fine with Big Sur.
I use it every week and continue to make bootable backups from my internal
drive to my external USB drive; and on occasion from one external drive to a
second external drive.
Just be certain that you are using the late

When you go to Bluetooth, in Menu Extras,, Bluetooth Preferences is at the
bottom of the list.
Whether you go through Menu Extras, or through System Preferences, gets you to
the same place.

If you do the keyboard command VO + Shift + C, you can copy the last thing
spoken by VoiceOver to the clipboard. Then you could paste this into TextEdit,
a new Mail message, or any other text editor of your choice.
Once pasted into a text editor, you can read it word by word, or character by

is there some setting I could change in Safari or anything else
Yes, you can first try enter. If that does not work, then you can tray
something a little more involved. Do Command VO F5 followed by VO Shift space.

You can use VO + CMD + F5, which will route the mouse to the VO cursor, then do
VO + Shift + Spacebar, to simulate a mouse click.
