If you do the keyboard command VO + Shift + C, you can copy the last thing spoken by VoiceOver to the clipboard. Then you could paste this into TextEdit, a new Mail message, or any other text editor of your choice. Once pasted into a text editor, you can read it word by word, or character by character, if you wish.
