Really? I’m not familiar with that command. What is it’s broader function?
Thanks, Tim, I will give this a try.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi,
It does exactly what a two-finger double-tap does. I can't remember exactly
what Apple calls it, but essentially, you can use it to answer calls,
pause/start music etc.

Tim,
I”ve tried VO Minus while playing music, and it does not start/stop playing.
Even if iTunes is brought to the front there is no effect. Are you sure of this
keystroke?

Hi Dave,
This command only works on iOS and iPadOS keyboards. It does not work for
MacOS. I did actually take the effort to see what Apple calls this key
combination. It is "Magic Tap".

Okay, I missed the specificity to the iOS platform.

Hi,
You'll need to first make a copy of the Script Editor file and place it on your
Desktop because you're not allowed to modify active scripts in this location.
• Open Macintosh HD, Library, Scripts, VoiceOver, Time of Day.applescript
• cmd-c to Copy.
• Bring focus to your Desktop, then press c
Tim,
Holey Moley, never would have figured out what string to put in there. All else
seems sensible, and of course not knowing I can’t edit an active script would
have messed me up for quite a while.
Thanks much for this.

Hi,
Oops, the modified script I supplied does not say the year. If you do indeed
still want the year, I can fix that for you, or you can experiment some
yourself to see if you can figure it out and where to place the argument.

Tim,
Just made the change, and also learned a bit about the scripting language.
Again, thanks.

Tim,
As to including the year, no need. Although I’m retired and often forget the
day of the week, I rarely forget what year it is.

I’m in a dreadful quandary. I’ve managed to setup my new Netgear X6 R8000

Hi,
It sounds like File Vault is enabled. When you turn VO on at that point, does
the voice sound more mechanical? If this is indeed the case, you just need to
type the username in as it appears in the System Prefs. After entering the
username, press return, then you should hear the computer
Hi,
Is there an option in the setup to set up manually, or "Other"? I seem to
recall that working better when you wish to do things a little different than
the normal methods.

When it says user name just type in your user name then tab to the password
field. Once you enter your password it should make three tones. This one got me
as well when I was trying to sign into my wife’s Mac.

It is slightly possible that your account has not been enabled for File vault
logins. I remembered there being a dialog in ElCapitan systems where one could
list the users that were allowed to login at the file vault screen or something
similar to that. I couldn’t find that. But in any case, whe

Sorry to bring this thread back up. Tim’s suggestion works great with one

Hi, I’m thinking to switch from my Actilino to the VarioUltra 20 Braille

follow the threads. I’d love to hear from folks who have an Ultra with thoughts
about how it works with both Mac and iOS devices. I’ve read some

Hi Pete,
Firstly, the display isn't available at this time, though there are rumors that
a company will start producing them soon.
If they ever do go back into production, though, I highly recommend the
VarioUltra. It's very versatile, as you can have up to 4 Bluetooth devices and

Hi Pete and Brianna,
Actually, according to info I've received recently, it is back in production,
and there is a U.S. distributor.
I absolutely love my VU. It works great with Mac and IOS. Its design is small,
light, and portable. I don't have need for this often, but I love that it can
