OK a couple of points here!
If in a room with the Mac version someone says to get more info about something
to press like F6 that side of TC does not work in the Mac version!
And to speak in a room when you've got your VO cursor on the Talk button all
you need to do is press the space bar [do
Command-e.

without a sighted person doing it. They had to go into Music, call up a song,

As was suggested, uninstalling and reinstalling the Audible app fixes the
problem. I cannot watch Audible and it works.

First, no 5S, no Alex.
Second, you have to download it. Go into settings / general / accessibility /
speech / voices and select it to download. Bear in mind, it's 869MB so will
take a while.
Next, you'd probably have to switch your default voice to be Alex in Voiceover.

Hi Gigi. I think from what I've heard in the Diphone list, when direct typing
is enabled, Voiceover won't wait until you lift your finger to type a
character. I don't think I'll use it because I make a lot of mistakes. Lol.

Just to add another perspective to this discussion, I sort of like direct touch
typing. And I think it'll be very fast once one gets used to it, especially in
combination with the predictive typing. Just my $.02, but I'm going to use it
for a while and see how it goes.

Sometimes Voiceover speaks using the default settings for rate and
pitch etc. Such as at login tho that is before I log into my account.
But there are places where my settings are not used and VO is speaking
too fast for me. I looked around but could not find where I can change
this. I hope
