Yep, the reason for that you can't use Disk Utility to repartition is that it doesn't yet support manipulating CoreStorage groups, which is what FileVault-encrypted volumes and Fusion Drives are made from. So if you have one of these, you have to drop to the command line to delete the CoreStora
