just a thought but have you checked that the card isn't right protected?

I suspect that something's gone wrong with the card reader on my Mac book pro.
It seems that, no matter what I do, every time I insert a 32GB card in to the
reader, it shows up as a browser image despite the fact that I have finder
preferences set to open all drives in list view. When I connect my Edirol
recorder to my Mac using the USB cable, then open that as a drive, it shows up
as a list view table. When I insert the card directly in to my Mac, and it
shows up as a browser image view when I open the card, I can only read from but
not write to nor delete from it. While in list view using the USB plug, I can
both read and write. Anybody got any ideas what's going on? I think the
reader's going bad and, if that means a new logic board, it means a new machine
for me.

Thanks.
Sincerely,
the Constantly Barefooted Ray, Still a very happy Mac and iphone user!
