It's the Mac app store. you can adjust preferences for it in system prefs, app store. I have mine set to automatic, so I don't get those prompts. The automatic setting updates system files. It appears there isn't a details button for those system files anymore. here's a discussion of this issue:

You really might want to consider Nisus writer Pro. Although Pages is much improved over where it used to be, I generally find it takes a lot of work to get things done. Nisus writer is very straight forward and totally accessible. It's not cheap so experiment with the trial version to make sure
