I too have noticed I've been getting a lot more mail busy notifications since upgrading to Mountain Lion. Mail has been a lot less responsive in general. E.g. when moving up and down in the messages list, VoiceOver seems to be a fair way behind my keystrokes. Moreover, I get the mail busy a lot
