As far as I know the only way to change the track is to hit the n as in Nancy.
You get no feedback from Voiceover. But you can check the selected track by
hiting shift and space bar. Then you'll only hear the track wihch is selected
for editing.

move through ony that track for editing? Every time I try it, the curser moves
through both tracks. I know that because I hear the scrubbing in both stereo

Well, there is a panel on the bottom of your Imac, with three screw, once you
undo those, it's pretty much smooth sailing, you pull the tabs, to take out the
exigzisting ram, or if your just adding too it, find the empty slot and slide
it on in. You have to apply a little pressure, so it snaps

it and update it and its plugins. It must be something to do with what it does
to alter the system.

That depends on how you have things set up. By default, ITunes is set so that
when you insert a music CD, (assuming of course that this is what you mean),
the CD will rip in to your machine and the format will be in the .4ma which is
a form of mp4 file format. IF I'm not mistaken, you'll find
Abby fine Reader is excellent for that purpose.
