You shouldn't have to buy a monitor. A monitor adaptor plugged into
your mini should help. I think that's the trick that most of the
listers who have a mac mini have used. So don't worry.

I tried what you are doing and I'm not having the problems you
describe. You might try not interacting with the text and letting vo
read out the string. Then vo-shft-c to copy last phrase.

Unfortunately, vuescan does not have a built in driver for my scanner
model. Also, there are no drivers available from the manufacturer, so
twain sane is my only option. Do you know of any other work arounds?
FYI, my scanner type is a fujitsu fi-6230.

As far as jumping over menus, there is a new setting in the voice over
utility to automatically interact with items when tabbing to them, you
might try unchecking that. Gmail and google reader are useable, but
the design of these pages is very nonstandard. You need to press v o
command f5

Sometimes to read the suggestions, you have to hit either VO left or
VO right arrow. VO down arrow can take you out of the search box
altogether. VO left and right works every time, though interestingly
you have to try both, as neither one is consistent.

so if you ever did want to use the composite out adapter with an older
