Hi Simon, Sorry, I got confused. It is Option and the left and right arrows that select words on my system. For selecting lines, Shift and Up and Down Arrow work. Command and Left and Right move to the beginning and end of the line, so adding Shift would selecgt to the beginning or end. Sorry again for the confusion.
