It was a fun little diversion after spending months sorting out
Windows issues after my laptop quit and trying to get the Windows VM to
take its place. Now if only Duxbury would be helpful, I;d be happy.
Nice though that much progress was made today.

Way to go figuring that out. What I hear is VO saying E, so I figured it was
just announcing the key press and didn't try arrowing left or right. But once
I hear that, you are right, all the accents are there. Cool!

Donna,
Good news. I do not know any foreign languages but run into some of
those characters in my braille reading so made a list of the braille
symbols for reference.
So this got me curious and I found the answer. What Google showed
you is true, its just not Voiceover friendly.

Tim,
It is possible to override these defaults in systems that use COCOA input
methods. You can turn the option key into a emacs-style meta key so that
option-f moves forward by word and option-b moves backward by word and other
such functions. There is also a vi style of cocoa-input macros flo
Hi Tim,
No, that is not what I meant. I read something on Google that suggested that
if I press and hold a key a list of other options would come up. It sounded
similar to how it works on the iPhone. If you press and hold E, you'll get
options for different related keys E acute, E grave, etc
Hi,
That's odd. Make sure that you've interacted with the editable area so that
you can actually type. The option key reference is not new at all, I'm not
sure why they're saying that it only works on newer Macs since it's been
available since way back in the 90's and probably even into the 8
When I press Option plus 1, all I get is the little chime.

Hi all,
In my quest for the inverted exclamation mark, have been reading that on newer
Macs, if you hold down a key, accented characters for that letter will pop up
as an option. But I have tried this out in both Pages and Text edit with no
luck. Does anyone know how to make this feature wor

Hi Dónal,
Well, in your case the easiest way to type "o acute" would probably be
to switch to an Irish keyboard and press Option+O, which would save
you one extra keystroke. You can select this under the
"International" menu of "System Preferences" by going to the "Input
Menu" tab, inter
Hi there,
Just wondering if there is an easier way to type accented characters
than the method I'm presently using. Let's assume I want to insert
the letter "o acute" into a document. The way I'm presently doing
this is to press "option-e" followed by "o". Is there a way to do
