Hi,
Well, after being off this list for almost 2 months, I'm finally back
on through a G Mail account. I had similar problems with the
inadvertent muting of speech, and Erik's tiup abouyt adjusting volume
with VO Command arrows is really useful. Had no idea about that one.

this switch changes the three finger tripple tap from muteing to
turning off vo. this allows sighted users to use the phone as
normal. it also allows a blind user to turn vo back on with the three
finger tripple tap

Hi,
I definitely like it. If you're not familiar with an iphone, the
trackpad is definitely a good assistant if you're planning to obtain
one. It's probably just the positioning of your fingers, really. I
haven't had an issue, but you have to be rather accurate with the
gestures. Doesn't
Hi,
You know what is totally cool about the trackpad? I'm sure the iPhone
can do the same, since it's the same technology. I accidentally laid
the length of my entire finger across the trackpad, and I got a triple
finger tap. It was difficult to duplicate, though, since my fingers
are sle
Yeh, I'm so fast with the keyboard that it is really chafing me to
relearn on the track pad. It seems to me that there's an accuracey or
sensativity level that's not quite right. It mistakes a router turn
for a pinch closed sometimes and makes other mistakes as we... So,

Hi Erik,
Odd that the checkbox doesn't change. I don't turn speech off on my
iphone much, so have never checked that out. Anyway, glad this helped.
You know, it's funny. When SL came out, I was really excited about
the trackpad commander. But I stopped using it almost immediately,

Hi Donna, I just did the double tap 3 and yes it muted and unmuted my
speech. The odd thing is, when I checked the mute speech setting in
voiceover utility it was unchecked even though the speech was muted.
Checking and unchecking the box does nothing if yu mute speech using
the trackpad
Hi,
Just a tip. Turn keyboard help on when the trackpad is on, and try out
different gestures to get feedback on their functionality if you
haven't tried it. Also, the standard gestures are documented in the
VoiceOver help. Keep in mind, of course, that you can also assign new
gestures wi

a three finger double tap will mute VO. if you turn BO off and on
again it will react exactly as you posted. the way to solve this is
to again three finger double tap. this feature works great especialy
when you don't want VO to read information every so many minutes.

Hi,
I found out the hard way that a certain multi finger tap will mute
speech. I think it was a 3 finger double tap. Anyway, I think it's
similar to the turn screen curtain on/off command.

Hello Erik,
The speech muting problem is the one I was asking about a couple of
weeks ago. I haven't got a recent machine with a multi-touch trackpad,
but several people on my French list have reported this problem. I
shall pass on your solution to them as it's much better tha
Hi Erik,
The gesture that turns off speech on the iphone is a double-tap with
three fingers. I know it seems unlikely, but is it possible you did
this by accident? It's a toggle, so the next time it happens, try
doing a three-finger double-tap, and see if speech starts up again.
If it
Hi guys. I'm playing around with the track pad commander and I can't
get it to do much.
One of the things I have been able to do with it though is mute
speech . Please don't ask me how I accomplish this. I' couldn't
begin to tell you . Fortunately I have mmy braile display here and so
