Chris,
Ok, I did some research, I could not find a compatiable Vinux with EFI support.
But I did find the Mac-Linux usb loader, it is here

that’s how you use it. So far I just tried the app, and it looks completely

Well on Windows it's actually called Uefi if I'm correct. It works like
Efi with some differences obviously but wouldn't know what they are. My
nearly dying laptop uses the good old inaccessible bios.

Chris,
You may have brought up something. I have been seeing something about EFI, but
did not know what that means. Now the million dollar question, where can I find
a EFI Vinux? lol. I may just have Vinux boot up on my Windows machine and use
the Startup program to make a bootable USB.
Thanks
The link pasted below to a discussion thread might help you track down
some answers. Apparently Windows boxes use BIOS and Macs use EFI
firmware for bootstrapping the machine. So while the Linux bases are
nearly identical, the bootup process is different and you'll need to
have an EFI-based boo
Yeah, something is going on here lol. When I get back to work on thursday I
will try out my other computer there.
thanks!

Hi,
Bootable on a Windows machine doesn't always mean bootable on your Mac though.
If you're not seeing in in the possible Startup Disks, then your Mac won't boot
from it no matter which method you try.

Hello,
I completely understand you. Under the Startup menu I don't see the bootable
cd, but yet that cd does work on a Windows PC, so I know the cd is bootable. I
have seen the guide how to make a bootable flashdrive, but I am not sure the
program that you are to use on the Mac is accessable, a
Hi,
Either I'm not understanding you, your typing different info than you're doing,
or your not quite understanding what I'm recommending that you do. Disk
Utility will not assist you with the boot-ability of your CD. Your absolute

Ok, the Vinux cd is bootable. I can do this on a different computer that have
CD drive first to boot before the Harddrive. Also in Disk Utility there is
nothing about a disk other than the Mactintosh HD and Bootcamp.
So, I am stumped here, I was thinking about holding the Options key at startup
If you get a black screen, your disk is not bootable. Hold down your option
after hearing the start up chime and hold it for a minute to be sure. Press the
left arrow one time if you dont have more bootable disks. In OSX the boot drive
should be formated as journal extended or something if you w
Hi,
When you go into System Prefs, in the Startup Disks pane, with your bootable CD
in the drive, do you see it as a startup option? Seeing it in Disk Utility
only tells you that the disk is there, not if it is bootable on a Mac.

Hello everyone,
Ok, I tried the Disk Utility and I can see the Mac HD drive and Bootcamp, but
not the bootable cd. So I tried the cd on another Windows PC and it worked. So
I went back to my Mac, and tried holding C when I restart. Something happens
but the screen is dark, I think since I don't
Thank you so much! I already know how to do bootcamp with Windows 7, but I did
not think about you are able to do that off a CD. I will be doing that.
Thanks!

Hi,
Best thing to do is to have the CD/DVD loaded into your drive then go under the
Apple menu to System Preferences and open the Startup Disk pane. Once in
there, Interact with the Possible Startup Disks Scroll area and choose your
bootable CD/DVD by pressing VO-space on it. Stop Interacting
Hello everyone!
I have been reading up on Linux accessabilty and want to give Vinux a shot by
running off a bootable CD. So far I figured how to burn an ISO file to a cd, so
I hope it is good. But my question is, is the Macbook Pro set by default to
first boot from the Optical drive before the
