I myself have auto lock set to never. I will manually lock the phone when I am not going to use it. You also can set brightness to zero. I have most apps set to never use data if there is no wifi. This article may provide more ideas.

Hi Jenine, Have you tried clearing out the app switcher? Sometimes that can cause problems. You might also want to consider a fresh restore just to be sure it's not software related. After that if you're still experiencing issues a trip to the Apple Store is in order. Kind regards, Sada

I think I recall someone else having this issue recently but for some reason my phone battery is draining at what I think is an alarming rate. I’m also using data at an alarming rate. I’m checking the settings and have the wifi mode turned off that uses data when there’s a weak celular signal.
