as advised, use the quicktime for snow leopard install even for lion. this is
because quicktime X is installed in both lion and snow leopard and does not
support certain features needed for authoring / import / export.. so yes this
is correct, it works in snow leopard, lion, etc. so install it.
Thanks for all this Lou!
I downloaded Flip and then went for quick-time as you said, using the link you
sent, but the DMG file says snow leopard on it, is this right? I'm Lion and I
assume I am using the latest. Should I check, or will this version of QT be ok?

I just use VLC Media Player to handle WMA files, and Itunes handles the rest

media, etc, it's a component for the web interface so it works in tandem with a
player.
in your case, you need another plugin to resolve y

Lou, So I had done all that, but then when I put in a WMA file from a CD I got
quick time has encountered an unknown file-or something similar. What do I then
need to do in order to use Perian to play such files?
Thanks.

for those of whom who have not seen a post I created regarding digital media
support for OS X and quicktime, I'd recommend reviewing it.
Perian is a free plugin system to allow support for non standard media support
in OS X. this includes suport for windows media files to integrate into

Mark,
As I already said, in the dmg folder there is no .app file. Only a

Shall I delete and redownload? I got it from the Perian website.
Confused why there is no .app file.
Thanks.

If you downloaded the app, likely it's in your "downloads," folder as a "dog
dmg," file. Locate it, and open it. Within the folder of the same name that
is created, find the "dot app," file. Copy and paste it to your "applications
folder." Then, open that file to launch the applications. sy
