I bought a brand spanking new Zoom H1 Essential recorder. It does indeed come
up talking first thing. Dave's spekulation must be correct. IF your unit did
not come up talking, some sighted light dependent person must have turned

Once you turn it on, voice guide should already begin speaking. Jonathan Mosen
has a great review of this recorder on the Blind Podmakers podcast.
Just search for the blind pod maker on your podcast app of choice and you
