I just got a new mac and all was working fine until a few days ago. now when I’m in safari and hit command w to close a window it closes it visually, but my voiceover is saying open whatever link I was focused on in a new tab. on the screen it’s closing the window, but it’s saying something else

Alex, I think I solved this. In System prefs, Sound. at the bottom where the mute checkbox is, there's a volume slider. which was at 37%. I set it to 100%. VO speech has not dipped at all, From E.T.'s Keyboard... ancient.ali...@icloud.com Science is not only compatible with spirituality;

Do you mean your speech audio dips, then fades back up to normal? If so, I've seen that for a couple years, on different devices. I don't think it's your drive, which is the good news. The bad news is I've never found a fix and can't pin down how to make it happen to pass along to Apple. -- Ale
