Hey guys,
At someones suggestion the last few times VO would not start speaking after
coming out of sleep mode, I tried tapping on the track pad and sure enough this
worked, so if you got a track pad and are having the VO not starting after
coming out of sleep mode try just tapping the track pa
Hi Donna,
I’ve found that I can get VO to speak by Turning the volume up or down. After
a few seconds, Speech will return.

Hey Tim,
Thanks for the suggestions. Only problem is I don't have a password set for my
computer. Next time it happens I will play around with the track pad to see if
that helps. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi,
A couple of things that I’ve noticed regarding this sort of thing:
1. On my iMac at home, when waking, VO focus is confused. It’s within the
authentication app but not focused on the Authentication window. I click on
the physical button of my Magic Trackpad which brings focus to the wind

Hello,
I was wondering, Is it a case of Voiceover not coming on or, speech not coming
on immediately? For example, when I wake my Macbook pro mid 2010, there is no
speech but, speech does eventually return after about 5-10 seconds. But
throughout all that, Voiceover and sound is on.

Good distinction, Ricardo. I do believe VO is on in my case, because other
sounds on the Mac are present. However, it probably takes a good minute-minute
and a half to get speech back, and it doesn't seem to come on without me
toggling VO on and off several times.

Hi Brian!
I never actually noticed it until mavericks. And I can't tell if it is my
entire computer or just voiceover not being responsive. Oh well, guess its
time to play around more with it to see if I can find an answer.

I haven't had to do that, but I have had to hit the shut-down key before VO

window.
BTW, I'm still running Lion.

The problem has been bad enough for me that I’ve had to perform a hard shutdown

hi, could you tell us what Mac your using? I know there was a problem with the

Wow i've noticed the same thing with Mavericks. I have to wait at least a
minute after coming out of sleep before I can do anything with VO. I thought
it was just a mavericks bug. Wish they'd fix it.

Hey all,
Having a rough go of it with Voiceover. I have noticed this for awhile but now
it has gotten really bad. I typically don't shut my computer off just put it
into sleep mode, and now when it comes out of sleep mode I have to toggle VO on
and off five times to get VO to start working with
