Hi all,
I may need to do a fresh install of Sonoma. Thinking to use the Time
Machine backup to restore from. If anyone has done this successfully,
can you share any pointers to help me in this project? Thanks.

Hi, all,
When I go into Mail, etc. in System prefs in M L, I notice that Facebook has a
password with the same number of characters as my computer user account, and I
can't change it. I can type the Facebook one in there, but it just switches
right back to the previous password. Also, Facebook
Hello,
Yes, you can restore a file, folder or the whole system with time-machine.
For a file/folder:
Go into find and Selected Dr., Rao Time Machine backup is made.
There you will see folders and each has the name of the dates when the backup
is made.
Go in to that folder and select the specific
Dear Listers,
Is the restore function in time machine accessible with Voiceover? Has anyone
on the list had successfully restored a file, folder, or the entire backup
using voiceover?

Hi,
yes, just interact with the table after continuing when selecting the
backup source. Then you should see the dates properly, and I have
three backups for different dates on mine as a test.

Maybe I'm viewing the table incorrectly?
Also, do you have a stack of back up points? What if I want to
restore to 9/30 and have daily ones between me and that one?

Thanks for your help. I did a clean OS install and replaced a few
things from Time Machine (with wife's help) and all but one thing
seems good - I don't know where to find my iPhone restore files and
iTunes can't seem to give me a hint as to where I might find them on
Time Capsule.

Hi,
Well, I went ahead and did it.
I booted from the DVD, launched VoiceOver, chose my main language and
went into the utilities menu. I clicked on Restore system from Backup
or something similar, and just followed the instructions from there.
Seemed to work pretty well. Looks perfectly ac

Thanks but what I cannot figure out is how to pick a restoration date
in Time Machine or, for that matter, find the restore button.
Before reading your DVD suggestion, my wife got the restore in Time
Machine and things seem quite weird - Finder says my Macintosh HD has

Hi
Insert the DVD into your drive.
When starting up your Mac, when you hear the usual startup tone you
hold down the C-key and the drive should start spinning. After a
couple of minutes you should be in the Language Chooser, if all goes
well and you can then start VoiceOver.
Hope it works
How do I pick the date? When I open Time Machine, VO reads it sort of
like a bunch of Finder windows were opened and, without my wife, I
can't even find the restore button.
What do I need to do to do a DVD boot?

I am pretty sure you need to do a DVD reboot and then to select the
Time Machine backup day of your choice to do a full system restore.
If you just launch Time Machine and click on "restore", you'll resto
Hi,
I installed the latest iTunes and a number of things seem to have
gone weird. First, iTunes didn't automatically detect my library
which is odd as it isn't in an obscure location and it should have
been able to find it from the settings of the previous version. The

Hi,
Yep, that's how I usually do it. I just wanted to see if I could do it
the way that Help says to do it.
Oh well.
Thanks Justin and I really appreciate your help.

Hi Dan
Yeah you should really just use the finder.
cmd shift C (within finder) to open the root folder of your computer
and cmd 3 to make it columns view if it isn't already

Then within that there should be a folder called "backups.backuped" or

Hello Justin and others,
I do find the restore button with the item chooser, however, I cant
find the file I want to replace. Even though I know it exists in the

Any other suggestions?

Hi Justin,
Thanks for that suggestion. I love the item chooser, however, this
time, I didn't even think of giving it a try. I'll let everyone know
how it works.

If memory serves you can use the items menu to find the restore
button. I haven't used that in a long time though so I'm not exactly
sure. I would recommend that you just access all the backups through
the finder.
