Thanks for your help. I did a clean OS install and replaced a few things from Time Machine (with wife's help) and all but one thing seems good - I don't know where to find my iPhone restore files and iTunes can't seem to give me a hint as to where I might find them on Time Capsule.
I still have no idea how a VO user can find a way to pick a date/time and hit the restore button but that isn't such an urgent problem right now.
