install the latest iPadOs update. It went off without a hitch, so I decided to
google updating IOS when abroad. According to what I found from various

I believe that they have simply modified the format of the Software Update
process. I would expect that anything MacOS related, including Apps, OS
included printer software, security updates and such would be accessed through
the new Software Update.

You could try contacting Apple to see if they will supply you with another set
of install disks. You'll probably have to pay for them. Alternatively, you
could try eBay, but they're going for a lot more than the original price, so
apple is likely to be more affordable.

If you did not set a password, you should just be able to press enter
at this prompt and the install should continue.

If it happens that you wrote a password and forgot it, you might just
be able to rewrite it.
OK someone else should comment on this too. So I know if you have the
leopard installation CD there is a way to boot into the system through
the disk and change the password.
Put CD in comp
else and I was prompted with the password. Not knowing it I summoned
the Mac store where I bought it. They suggested enter and poof ...
success.
