Hello Anne, it kind of worked, but not as I expected. Whenever I launch pages, I press command plus n, but instead of opening my custom template, the template chooser shows up, so I press escape and press command plus n again, and finally pages opens my custom template. I don't know why...

Hello Leo, In Pages Preferences, I think you have to click on Change template and reselect your preferred one then press Choose. Close Preferences and your chosen template should be shown. Close the window and quit Pages, then reopen Pages and all should be well. This works for me under Mojave,
