Larry, I have gotten as far as setting things up in DBT Global settings. Even though I added the embosser in system prefs, DBT does not see it in the write to port dialog. I put the word null in the write to file dialog as you did but that did not help. When I add the embosser in system

Larry, Made a bit of progress. Checking the cable, I realized I had a USB extender cable in there so took it out. As soon as I selected it in prefs, the embosser started spitting out paper. Once it stopped, the embosser went into error mode. But if I left it alone, I could add the embosser.

The details are fuzzy now and I’m a relative Mac newcomer so the procedures aren’t burned in yet, but if I recall correctly, I made sure it was turned on and plugged it in. I think I had to go to Printers and Scanners and add it. It found it and identified it as a generic postscript printer.
