The only time I've seen this was when I was trying to copy to an sdhc card and
I had inadvertently pushed up the protect tab.
Since that doesn't appear to be your case it sounds more like somehow Os10
seems to think the folder is protectted.

these files? I'd be interested to see if it complains then. The only times my
Mac has complained when trying to paste is when nothing was in the clipboard,
