right, I knew it was you this happened to. I’m not the best at any of this to

I store all my data in either iCloud or Dropbox, which makes it available on
all my connected devices.
This makes setting up a new device really easy.

You make a good point. What I ended up doing, once I got the replacement Mac,
was just copying my documents folder to iCloud, and then copying the whole
folder to my Mac. It was actually super easy, and

I used migration assistant moving from an Intel MacBook Pro to an M1 MacBook
Pro and did not experience any issues.

Conflicts between the old and new are to be expected.

Not sure if I really want to buy a Mac with m1 chip.
But maybe its worth it anyway.

Since you are most likely migrating from an older Intel-based Mac, to a new M1
Mac, you should be aware that the 2 systems are very different and not
compatible.
A couple of users on this list have tried using a Time Machine backup from
their older Intel-based Mac, to setup their new M1 Mac, and
right, I knew it was you this happened to. I’m not the best at any of this to
begin with and my husband does IT on windows, so has no clue.

Alia,
I know that using Migration assistant has worked for some people, but at least
a couple of us have ended up having to get replacement Macs because of this
issue. In addition to the migration breaking Voiceover, when I went to erase
everything and reinstall the OS, I was unable to do so.
