So, what you will want to do is to open the folder with Command O and then
paste. It will go directly into the folder. If not, then I would double check
your folder settings for Dropbox under preferences.

Hi Mike,
How do I add a file to a shared folder? I’ve tried Copy and Paste, but instead
of going into the folder, my copy is at the bottom of the window. In other
words, it’s past all my Dropbox folders and files.
Any idea?

Yes, you do need to do an actual mouse click on the dropbox item to open it
now, hopefully they will fix that at some point.

No, just bring up the context menu of the folder you want to go up to share…
and vo space or enter. It will then bring up a dialog and you can type in the
email address.

yes. thanks. somebody taught me that little trick of changing the 0 at the end
of the url to a 1. I use it all the time. I’m talking here about sending a link
to a dropbox folder that somebody can upload to. that seems to be more
complicated. as far as I know you have to do it from the dropbox w

The official Dropbox app was accessible when last I used it, which wasn’t
recently.
You can simply place a file in the Dropbox directory on your local machine to
upload it.

Not sure about “uploading”, but you can easily send a download link by doing
the following:
1. Place the file you wish to share in the Dropbox folder in the Home folder
on your Mac.
2. Place focus on the folder, and open the shortcut menu.
3. From the shortcut menu, select Copy Dropbox Link.
You can download the Dropbox app for Mac or PC by opening your browser and
entering the following URL into the address field:
http://www.dropbox.com/downloading
The site will automatically determine your system/OS, and download the correct
installer to your downloads folder.

Eileen,
Like you, I am in transition from Windows to Mac. One thing I have done to help
this along is to migrate one activity at a time from the windows PC to my Mac.
For instance, I have my Gmail going to my mac rather than to windows. There are
other examples, but I don't want to bore anybody
really stupid!!

Thank you all who responded to my questions. I have DropBox downloading now on
the Mac. I have been using it for a while on Windows to share files with
another group. Its a matter of my learning how to use it on the Mac.
Currently, I am reading through the Tim Sniffen book, but I find
