Good troubleshooting. Occasionally, with the restore via iTunes, and the
change to the System voice will do the trick but it sounds like you tried most

Usually, if iTunes has been quit, then you may see something iTunes/iPod
related that could be causing the issue. If iTunes is still on, then things
may be difficult to determine. The manual restore certainly does the trick,

Try quitting iTunes. If that doesn't do it, you may need to force eject it or
check in the Activity Monitor to see if something is accessing it.

Lately, I'm unable to eject my iPod Nano 5th gen. This error comes up:
