Why do you want to use fw instead of the ide in the g3?
Could you not get a kit to mount a 2.5 drive in a 3.5 bay?

Hi,
Mounting it is the least of my worries. I have three drive bays inside
this 1997 G3. I'll just use some double sided tape to hold it in place.
Thank you Cara for the information.

Alex, I don't know about an adapter, but you can definitely get a
firewire enclosure for your MB drive. I have one and it works
wonderfully!… Of course I'm not mounting it inside something else,
but the enclosure is great!…
You can Google this, and I'll post the brand I have. (will

I need to upgrade the disk in my Macbook possibly and i need to know

Well if I ever get up the nerve to disassemble and upgrade the drive

It can be done indeed but I would not call it a easy task. At least i

In my MacBook Pro 15, at least, all the parts are accessible, and
there are even little tabs to pull them out by. Why would this have
anything to do with being blind?

The drive is a standard 2.5" SATA drive. Here are a few starting at $48
for an 80GB up to about $100 for a 500GB.

Ah, you got to love those blondes, they have a way of putting things

much that can't be done with patients and a willingness to take a

It depends upon which Mac you are talking about. I have not attempted
to open one of the prior Macbooks, but I have had the opportunity to
open a Macbook pro in the unibody and the drive is very easy to
access. The ram I can't recall right off, it has been a while. As far

Well, have you ever upgraded the ram in your mac? I find it much
harder than the HP machines. I'm wandering how you would replace your
hard drive. Have you tried this as well? And how do you get it out of
the mac?

I don't know what makes you think that the ram would be difficult for
a blind person to replace and as best I recall, the hard drive is not
overly difficult to get at either. The aluminum unibody laptop is
easier I gather since the drive is located near the battery. The ram

Hi George.
You can't upgrade your hard drive on your own. As far as I know, you
can only upgrade your ram on your own, and this is not easy to do as a
blind person.

Hi folks!
I wonder if the hard drive on the MacBook 13INCH white is user
accessible in case of upgrade and if it is a standard laptop hard drive
like on the toshiba pc for example, if yes how to access it?
Thanks.
