First, I'm sure most if not all people on this list would agree that VoiceOver
is, in many respects, better than Windows screen readers. That is probably why
we are using Macs with VoiceOver after all. However, the lack of frequent
updates, if indeed updates to VoiceOver are less frequent than W

perhaps that explains the Cause of updates being made only in osx system

Hi,
The issue with automatic updates to VoiceOver has been skirted around here but
not clearly enough in my opinion. VoiceOver is not just a bolted on app to the
MacOS, it is a part of the OS itself. While you could update specific code

Seems to me Apple could push out updates to VoiceOver if they wanted to, just
as they push other updates for raw camera compatibility and the like, even
though those aren't separate applications.

Hi Chris.
I don't know if we're talking about the same thing. Maybe, but maybe not. I'm
talking about the new one in Mountain Lion where you can tell your computer to

I don't know if I want to do this, but does anybody know how to set up the

Hi Mike,
Congratulations on your new Mac Mini. You asked about automatic
updates. Under your Apple menu there is an option named "Software
Update". VO-M to the Apple menu on the menu bar, arrow down to this
option, and press return. It will run a check for new software. If

that I've heard you can enable automatic updates for mac. I'm just
wondering how if vo tells you if an update is available and if it's
being installed? Thanks,
