Then just let it sit. It should go away when it finishes whatever it is doing.
Perhaps it is still doing the restoration/migration from the TimeMachine backup.

Hi Brad,
I did that, but when I re-booted the Mac, it came right back.

This is also called a “spinning pizza”. It means the Mac is processing
something.
If it doesn’t go away on its own after a while, you can press and hold the
TouchID button until the computer shuts down.

You won’t be able to run Window’s on the newer Macs. There is an ARM Based
version that has recently come out for VMwhere, but do not know how accessible
or what is supported.

So my husband googled this, and apparently its called the spinning wait
cursor--also unofficially the Spinning Beach Ball of Death. And death seems to
be what it's brought to my Mac. It's completely locked up and neither of us
can get the Mac to do anything. Is this mac toast, or is there som
According to my sighted husband, that is what is on the screen of my Mac. He
cannot make it go away, and when it is there, we can't click on anything.
Anyone know what this thing is?

Hi Robert,
Nice guess. Tried it, but no dice. I've figured out the problem is that VO is
on, but nothing I do will activate speech. (sigh*(

Hi Donna,
What you might want to try is to hold down CTRl and option keys, and hit the
power button 3 times.
This should get you into a window where accessibility settings are checked or
unchedcked.
Use VO and right arrow to move through the options. VoiceOver should be the
first option. It w
Hi all,
Subject says it all. I migrated my data, everything seemed to be going well. I
heard VO say only 7 minutes remaining. But when I came back in the room, my MBA
had gone completely silent. The screen is lit up, so I know the Mac is on.
It's been like that for about twenty minutes. Anyo
Interesting. I'd thought about doing that, but though my recent stuff is
stored in iCloud, I have a fair amount of stuff on my Mac from before, so that
could end up being sort of time-consuming.

I prefer to migrate my data manually rather than using either a Time Machine
backup, or the Migration Assistant. This way I know I have transferred only
the data and not any of the accumulated garbage from the old Mac.
Since I keep most of my files in iCloud drive, this is a very simple

Hi all,
I'm excited to say that I'm a proud owner of a new MBA.
In the past, I've migrated my data using a time-machine backup, and it seemed
to go faster and more smoothly. However, that was several OSes ago, so I
thought I'd see what the current thinking about that is. My old Mac is running

Anyone have one and if so, what are your impressions with day to day VO use,
