Hi Donna, What you might want to try is to hold down CTRl and option keys, and hit the power button 3 times.
This should get you into a window where accessibility settings are checked or unchedcked. Use VO and right arrow to move through the options. VoiceOver should be the first option. It will probably be unchecked so check it, and exit out of the settings, and you should be on your way. Hope it works for you.
