I found my speakable items settings in Accessibility. I understand now that it
has to do with speech recognition and not with dictation specifically. The
speakable items setting was off all along. I've turned dictation off as well,
but still get the same lag.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. i have a late 2009 Mac Mini running Mavericks.
It doesn't lag if I invoke the command immediately the second and subsequent
times.
I don't use dictation at all on the Mac. Do speakable items have to do with
dictation? I'll try disabling them and see what happens.
Hi,
I get about a 5 second delay when I invoke the right option t command. This
only happens the first time. Then it's under a second. I don't have speakable

I don't believe it to be a bug. It's within a second for me. I will check

lag occurred. May not be your issue but thought I'd mention it.
Hi,
In the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences, you may have accidentally

Think I fixed this. It was after logging in I would hear 'noname

type my name and then password where before it was just the password.

To my knowledge, there's no accessible smart TV at this time.
You'll still have to buy the Apple TV and connect it via an HDMI slot in the

Not a quick way. Go to a tweet from them (you don't need to interact with
anything, just have VO say the tweet) then find the drawer. Interact, go to the
'user action menu", and activate the popup menu. Choose "following status",
then, from that submenu, "stop following".
