I find setting verbosity to medium, then going in and customizing individual
elements by expanding details and messing around with the options found in the
verbosity table, the best way to really customize the voiceover experience.

I personally scale my VO verbosity back pretty far. I've found that the single
most effective way to speed VO up is to have it announce "nothing when typing.

Huh,
It mutes the navigational sound effects you would normally here. Its the
equivalent to the mute switch on the iPhone. But on the Mac, it plays the
sound before the command is done unlike the iPhone that does both at the same
time.
