On this subject, I currently do not have a scanner which is supported

document which has been scanned and put into a pdf file, to run it
through OCR software? I have a manual for a yamaha keyboard which I

Hi List,
How about using the find feature in preview? When you have
searched for text, how do you navigate to the resulting section?

Absolutely, the magnification is usable. I moved From Windows and ZoomText to
the mac about five months ago and have been using only the built in
magnification and VoiceOver. Certainly many of the features are comparable.
There is more fine control over zoom levels. Cursor size, contrast, an

I'm not a low vision mac user, but would anybody that is, for Linzy's
benefit, say that the magnification offered just in Voiceover alone,
would be enough for low vision users in general? assuming that she
wants to avoid putting Windows on her mac when she does get one? Or

A pdf file should open in Preview. Normally, you just need to navigate
to the right by pressing vo+right arrow once and interact by pressing
vo+shift+down arrow and you should be able to read the file using vo

Hi Linzy,
Zoom Text is a Windows only program, so no, it doesn't work on the Mac
unless you are asking whether it will work on Macs that are running
Windows on separate partitions, such as with Bootcamp, or in virtual
environments, such as under VMWare's Fusion. In those instances it

Hi Jane,
With iTunes 8, support for being able to copy and paste selected songs
to the iPod device was added. Can you simply select the songs in a
playlist with Command-A, copy them with Command-C, then move to the
iPod shuffle in the Sources table and paste with Command-V to get the

Hi JG and Others,
There's a new review out for the IPod Shuffle at macintouch:

The sound quality appears to be very good for this 4GB iPod. The
controversial issue is the fact that controls for the iPod Shuffle are

We upgraded iTunes on the iMac. Now I am unable to move songs or even copy
them to my iPod shuffle. It shows up as a device in iTunes, but not as a play

Hi Jesse,
To play specific podcast episodes and select between different podcast
subscriptions, after choosing "Podcasts" in the sources table in
iTunes, go to the songs table. Your podcast subscriptions are
organized by folders. I usually set my songs table to be viewed as a

Hey folks,
I have encountered a rather odd problem that I just simply have not
been able to figure out. Here is the problem. I have created several
smart playlists, which specify certain genres of music, specific
amount in Gb, and so forth. These smart playlists load music on to my
