On this subject, I currently do not have a scanner which is supported
on the mac, but is the only way to get readable text out of a PDF
document which has been scanned and put into a pdf file, to run it
through OCR software? I have a manual for a yamaha keyboard which I
recently got, and unfortunately, it's one of those PDF files, in which
when trying to read it, all I get is something like image, PDF
thumbnail, image, pdf thumbnail. Had somebody sighted take a look at
the screen, and they could actually see text, which I could not get
at with VO. So is there any way, other than getting something like
read Iris, and paying for what its worth, to get readable text out of
this PDF? On Mar 17, 2009, at 9:41 PM, Mike Arrigo wrote:

Usually, you can just open the PDF file in preview, then interact with
the scroll area and read away.
