I have just tried to install LyX 1.3.6 under Windows
XP. I like what I have seen but I have a problem. As
the heading says: I cannot produce any output because
LyX has marked all the layouts apparently as not
existing.

I could see it was designed to take existing text and
images and produce a nice output. It seems to handle
linked frames, call-outs etc well.

started playing with LyX and as far as I can see one
of the bibtex apa classes will handle the citation and
referencing with no problem. I think your wife would
want apacite but this may depend on which document
class you use.

I think any good book on self-publishing would be
useful for the LyX community and is likely to extend
its use.
Also I can easily see transfering from Word or
OpenOffice to LyX for final publishing even if most or
all of the writing has been done in a wp.

what was happening was that my version was out of date
not the one the other person was using.
I would suggest checking with the other author : He or
she may be using a more modern version of LyX. If so

I am using the article(APA) doc class Options jou
,(MiKTeX WinXP) LyX 2.4.1
The class has a heading called journal that gives an
error but works when I use \journal{Journal Name}
in the LaTeX preamble (which the LyX error message
told me to).
Has anyone encountered this?

OOo Writer.
I gave it a try and Lyx seemed to do something but I
don't see any output file. Am I missing something

I know that there was a problem with the Tufte handout a few months ago but
between being distracted by other matters and the recent loss of the mailing
list I don't know what is happening at the moment.
I just did an upgrade to 1.6.6.1 and reinstalled Mixtex and I am getting some
weird result

I just updated to 1.6.7 from 1.6.6 and seem to have lost the ability out put in
dvi or ps format.
Downloaded the standard installation package for Windows and have an existing
MiXTeX installation.
I don't think I have a problem with Ghostscript etc since I can convert a pdf
to ps without any p

I was vaguely looking for something that might handle Canadian citations and
found that there was some work done on Lexitex? which addressed Blue Book
issues --it morphed into Camel but I don't think any current work is being
done on it.
