Dear all
I have been using Lyx 2.3 for a while, which I enjoy. Recently, I
downloaded Lyx 2.4.1 which is fine except for having the dark theme as
mandatory. How can I use the 2.3 theme for 2.4?

I am writing a book and I need colored examples contained in colored boxes.
I get the boxes but do not know how to number them (and reference them)
automatically for each chapter separately as Fig. 1.1 and Fig. 1.2, ..

If you just want to view the output on a different computer, you need to
embed fonts in your pdf output before sharin. A way to get around it is to
print your file using the 'Cute Pdf' program with fonts embedded.

Lyx 2.4 comes with "dark theme" as default, which I did not like as it is
not nice as it does not display graphs clearly. I like the LyX 2.3 theme,
so to change it, in the preferences > Look and feel > user interface > user
interface style > "windowsvista".

I have two issues which I could not solve so far:
• Sub-figures cannot be referenced separately if they are inserted using
the Table method.
• How to reference sub-figures as 1.23(x) instead of 1.23(x).

Actually this is simple if you know it (it took me a while to figure out).
You simply use (Kindle Create) to export your pdf file to kindle format
(.kpf). While creating your kpf file you are given three options - choose
the third one (print replica). This option will ask you for your pdf file

Actually, in Windows, you when you install LyX 2.4 it will be kept as a new
app and LyX 2.3 will be kept so you can use both. I suggest that you keep
both formats initially till you get used to LyX 2.4. Note that you can read
files created by 2.3 using 2.4 but not vice versa. I am using 2.4 now bu

When installing TexLive be patient as it takes a long time as it about 8
gb! (but it is worth the wait). I used MikTex but stopped updating (and it
could not download anymore)!!
