So, to be completely clear... (I'm slow) If we have used LyXWinInstaller for all LyX installations and updates, and are up to date as of LyX 1.5.2 and MikTeX 2.6, we can just update MikTeX the usual way through its own interface and then use the LyXWinInstaller update version to get to LyX 1.5.3
