I try to get the emailsymbol from the marvosym package into a LyX
document (cv).
I do the following:
1. in the LaTeX Preamble for the document I write:
\usepackage{marvosym}
2. where the symbol should be in my document I write in ERT:
\Email
This does not work in my headline left or ri
You have to add the path to Maxima in Tools -> Preferences -> Paths.
If you're on Windows, it's most likely "c:\program files\maxima\bin"
Reconfigure and restart LyX. It'll work.

I still use Word for the final spell check of my documents. After the
LyX spell checker run and proof-reading everything, I just copy the
whole text into an empty word document and look for suspicious red and
green lines.
How to you do this?

After knowing it's no known lyx issue I tried and found hyperref to be
guilty: setting pdfborder={0 0 0} in the LaTeX preamble solved the
problem...

As a long (long)-time LyX user, whenever I set up a new machine, I need
to get LyX working on it. I just upgraded my Zaurus-3100 (handheld
linux machine) to Angstrom, which is BTW much more stable than pdaXrom.
Lyx is available, albeit as 1.4.1. However, math symbols do not
display correctly

while in lyx-1.4 i could type the textdegree symbol on my german keyboard and
latexing went fine, this is no longer true in lyx-1.5. On the display
everything seems okay, but latexing gives the error:
Package inputenc Error: Keyboard character used is undefined.
Any suggestions?
