I do :-)
However, there're currently a couple of bugs in our (and Qt/WinFree's) font
loading code which prevent lyx from firing up.

Set the quoting style to double qoutes. You probably have that already.

Yes. I know of no better way. Use "Chapter*" if you also want
to get rid of the chapter number and the entry in the table of contents.

Dear Bennet!
Many thank's for that build. Everything works fine so far, except
that the german umlauts dont show up correctly in the menus and

other special chars without any troubles. I have attached an example

Perhaps you could use a lighter pdf viewer, like xpdf ?

Hi,
I am just playing a bit with lyx1.4pre2. some observations:
1) Compiling goes easy on Mandrake 2005
2) I did an open, modify and save from my previous docs, a master doc

Hi.
I have been using the cvs and now the pre2 version of LyX for some time now.
I think it is a wonderful program. I compile it on Ubuntu 5.04 and I use the
qt frontend. Recently I noticed that LyX is very slow when the "Instant

For \newpage you can use the shortcut "Strg-ENTER" (or "C-ENTER").
\pagebreak is actually not supported in LyX, so that you have to use ERT
for this.

How can one make cls files for tex, usable in lyx? Related to this question.

Try using C-Shift-Space to create a thin space. The LyX is as follows:
\begin_body
\begin_layout Standard
\begin_inset Quotes eld
\end_inset
The word was 'foo'\InsetSpace \thinspace{}
\begin_inset Quotes erd

I recommend the latin modern fonts. They are based on
computern modern and under the GPL. You find them in
OpenType format here:

the equivalent for CMR is lmroman.

Hi
This is along the lines of the recent "lyx MacOS" thread. I have the
same problem with the following symptoms:
(1) "View PDF (pdflatex)" does nothing
(nothing means it grinds away a little bit and then does nothing. Lyx
is responsive.)
(2) "File -> Export -> PDF (pdflatex)" does nothing (pro
